Nickel 200 Alloy (UNS N02200)
Nickel 200 is a commercially pure nickel with a purity of 99.6% nickel and a maximum carbon level of 0.15%, making it one of the most durable metals available. Although Nickel 200 is highly ductile across a wide temperature range, it is not appropriate for usage over 316°C [600°F] because prolonged exposure to 800°F to 1200°F causes precipitation of the carbon-containing phase and reduces ductility. It has high corrosion resistance in neutral to mildly reducing conditions and at a variety of temperatures, including alkalis, and is extensively employed in corrosion-resistant parts and structures. Furthermore, Nickel 200 has stronger thermal and electrical conductivity as well as magnetostrictive qualities than nickel-based alloys, stainless steels, and low-alloy steels, allowing it to be employed in equipment requiring magnetic components.
There are several methods for welding nickel 200. Soft brazing can be done with Pb- and Sn-based acidic agents; silver migration welding can be done with fluoride agents; and reducing flames can be done using phosphate-free silver migration alloy. Ni200 manual arc welding requires a 141-nickel electrode (Ni+2.5% Ti); tungsten-based tig welding requires a Ni61-wire electrode.
